Poem: Temptation: The Forbidden Fruit
We cannot prevent temptation from existing.
The flesh's desires are everywhere to be found.
Sin is crouching at the door, waiting to enter.
Objects of lust and craving abound.
Our ancestors Adam and Eve had everything
Except the fruit from one enticing tree.
It wasn't hard for the serpent to convince them
To do as they pleased; From God's law be free.
Ever since then, humans have struggled to do right.
Even if something is wrong, they often give in
To cravings, no matter the ramifications.
Is there nothing to save us from sin?
Even Jesus was trice tempted by Satan,
But He refused what the devil tried to get him to do:
Turn a stone into bread; Fearlessly jump from on high;
Accept Satan's gifts of kingdoms and splendor too.
He wouldn't give in and worship the devil,
For Jesus knew the Word of God well, and said He,
"Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only"
In failure, from Jesus, Satan did flee.
We can all learn from the example of Jesus.
Know the Bible well and apply it to whatever may come.
We too can stand firm and not give in to temptation.
That's the answer, the source we all can learn from.
